Pink Matter

From grey matter,
where everything only seemed to reveal the deepest, darkest parts of myself
so unclear, so colorless,
as if the absence of light was preparing me
to recognize every color that would come after.

Then came soft pink matter
the quiet discovery of healing,
revealing pieces of myself that were never meant
to stay engulfed in rivers of tears and sadness.
Here, hope doesn't arrive all at once.
It sprinkles itself over me, gently,
until I finally allow it to embrace me.
She begins to understand her own view—
the color she thought she'd never reach.

And then, purple matter.

Where I where she
learns that dimming her own light
was never about disappearing,
but about softening into acceptance.
A new perspective unfolds:
to trust the process,
to love every version of yourself,
every season of becoming.
Because every stage of growth
has been mixing together all along,
creating the most beautiful color of them all.

Mind over matter.

More sweet things.
More cotton candy.
More choosing pleasure over pain—
pleasure over matter,
in my own way.

Because maybe healing was never about becoming someone new.

Maybe it was simply learning
to see color where I once only saw grey.
